
Statistics of Counterpoint Research show that iPhone SE 2020 is the best-selling smartphone model in Korea in the second quarter. That helped Apple’s market share reach 19%, up 1% from the previous quarter.
Samsung continues to be the most popular smartphone company in Korea with a market share of 67%, up 3% from Q1. This success comes in part from the high-end Galaxy S20 smartphone line.
Among the 10 best-selling smartphones in the second quarter in Korea, there were 5 products belonging to the Galaxy A series. That shows that the demand for mid-range smartphones has increased strongly in the context of the outbreak of Covid-19 epidemic, causing everyone to do work, study at home.
With a market share of 13%, LG is the third largest smartphone company in Korea, but its market share shrank by 3% q-o-q.
Overall, smartphone sales in South Korea in the second quarter were 9% more than in the previous quarter, but down 8% from the second quarter of 2019. Smartphones under $ 400 accounted for 45% of sales, up from 33% last year.

In China, Counterpoint Research said Apple sold 7.4 million iPhones in the second quarter, up 32% from the same period last year, the smartphone company with the highest growth in China. Besides the iPhone 11, the iPhone SE 2020 is the key device to help Apple achieve this success.
